What started as a routine K-9 training session quickly turned into an unexpected drug bust.
On Jan. 31, 2025, officers from the Osage Beach Police Department, Miller County Sheriff’s Office, and Mid-Missouri Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force were gearing up for K-9 training when a vehicle pulled up, asking for directions to Osage Beach.
The driver, Aarron C. Ragan of Sullivan, Missouri, and passenger, Allen M. Richards of Beaufort, Missouri, were informed they were already in Osage Beach. However, officers quickly noticed both men showing signs of impairment.
As Osage Beach Police Corporal Stephen Riner spoke with the driver, Drug Task Force Officer Dave Neumann began removing his K-9 partner, Tina, from their vehicle. At that moment, Ragan stated he did not consent to a K-9 search—but he was informed that consent wasn’t needed for Ofc. Tina to conduct a sniff around the vehicle.
Sure enough, Ofc. Tina alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, leading to a search that uncovered a glass container with approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine.
Both Ragan and Richards were taken into custody and transported to Camden County Jail, where they now face charges. Ragan was charged with Driving While Revoked/Suspended and Possession of Controlled Substance with a surety bond of $7,500.00. Richards was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, with a surety bond of $15,000.00.
