Drought NOT impacting Osage Beach Groundwater Levels:

Missouri is under severe to even extreme drought conditions all across the State and the most recent recording has our immediate area recorded as severe. Predicting droughts, and preparing and planning for drought conditions are difficult but extremely necessary. Droughts do not just affect the public water supply, but our entire community’s agriculture, industry, recreation, and tourism.

For more information on the current drought conditions and MoDNR visit copy and paste the following web addresses to your web browser; http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/DM_state.htm?MO,MW or http://www.dnr.mo.gov/env/swcp/

The City of Osage Beach’s staff has been monitoring the City’s wells more often since the drought and we are happy to report that the City of Osage Beach’s groundwater levels and well production have not been affected to date by the drought that has hit much of the lower 48 states.

However, with that being said, water conservation is still a very important concern for the City. With the drought and that many other cities and water companies within the State of Missouri have already been calling for voluntary water conservation hoping to avoid mandatory conservation due to their own concerns, voluntary water conservation from all areas could have an impact on the State as a whole.

What can we do to help? Everyone can help…start small!

Only run dishwashers and washing machines when full; Take shorter showers; Install water-saving fixtures; Water lawns early morning or evening when there is less evaporation. For more tips and helpful information copy and paste the following web addresses to your web browser; http://www.benefits-of-recycling.com/waterconservationmethods.html or http://eartheasy.com/live_water_saving.htm

The goal of conserving water is to reduce the water consumption per capita to ensure sustainability for future use, conserve energy, and to minimize the human water use to preserve fresh water habitats for local wildlife and migrating waterfowl. Water conservation is for everyone and for everyone's benefit!
