City Administrator Jeana Woods is pleased to welcome Matt Vandevoort to the City of Osage Beach family as the new Parks and Recreation Manager!
Matt comes to us from the Department of Natural Resources – Division of State Parks, where he spent the last 3+ years working in the Real Estate Section as a Park Operations and Planning Coordinator. Prior to his time with state parks, he worked for Tan-Tar-A Resort from April 2011 to April 2012 as the Assistant Recreation Manager. Before moving to the Lake area, Matt lived in Iowa where he spent two years as a Manager at Bos Landen Golf Club in Pella, Iowa and two years as an assistant manager at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa. In 2006 Matt spent 6 months as an intern at Tan-Tar-A Resort working at the Oaks Golf Course and from 2004 to 2006 he worked for the City of Burlington, Iowa as a team leader on the grounds crew at Burlington Regional Rec Plex.
Matt grew up in Pella, Iowa, a town known for its Dutch pastries, tulips, and windows. He graduated from Pella Community High School, and then attended Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa. Following his two year degree at SCC, Matt proceeded to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
Matt enjoys fishing, golfing, volleyball, boating, hiking, and a number of other sports and outdoor activities. He owns a home in the Four Seasons area where his wife, Rachel, and his two year old daughter, Nora reside.
Matt plans to continue the success of the City Parks and Recreation Department by growing and expanding the recreational opportunities for the community. He plans to spend the next year really studying and getting to know the ins and out of the City of Osage Beach and he’s extremely excited to be here!
