Fall has arrived, meaning it's nearly time for the City of Osage Beach Public Works to rev up the big vacuums for the annual leaf collection.
Crews will begin collecting leaves along city-owned streets beginning the week of Thanksgiving, on Monday, Nov. 25. The annual leaf collection is a courtesy service for residents within the City of Osage Beach. The updated 2024 pick-up schedule and map is available for viewing.
Residents should allow for some flexibility in dates; unforeseeable events like inclement weather and equipment repair may cause delays. If that happens, the website map and schedule will be updated. Public Works expects to finish the collection by Dec. 31.
Collection guidelines:
- Pile leaves in ditches or along the edge of the road; do not create a road hazard by placing leaves in the right-of-way.
- Bagged leaves will be picked up if they're packed in special biodegradable bags; no plastic trash bags will be removed.
- Biodegradable bags are available for free at the Public Works main office (5757 Chapel Dr.) and at the window inside City Hall (1000 City Pkwy).
- Only city streets with green signs are eligible for leaf collection; private roads marked with blue signs are ineligible.
Yard waste drop-off now year-round at City Park
The Osage Beach Parks and Recreation Department announced it is expanding the yard waste courtesy service from seasonal to year-round at City Park (950 Hatchery Rd.). Residents are welcome to drop-off trimmings, limbs, grass clippings and small trees in the designated area at the sound end of the park near the maintenance shed during regular hours (7 a.m. to sunset). Tree stumps and plastic bags will not be accepted; contractors are ineligible for this service.
Compost still available
Last year, 2280 cubic yards of leaves were collected for compost. Public Works maintains a compost pile available to everyone, including non-residents and contractors. A crew can help load during work hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
